HOT Scholarship Information from Audrey DeVore, Associate Director of the Campuswide Honors Program at UC Irvine. This site has lots of information about prestige scholarships that you should start planning for long before you actually apply. By the time you transfer, it's too late for many of these, so get this information now!

HOT Advice:

Each May, Saddleback has a banquet at which a large number of scholarships are awarded. Criteria for the scholarships vary; some are based on need, some consider overall GPA, some focus on leadership, some are for specific majors or career goals, others combine several factors. Pick up an application for these scholarships in December at the Financial Aid Office. For more information visit the FA office scholarship site but do it by early February!

If you will complete the Honors Program this semester, contact the Honors Office now!
If you are applying this semester to one of the 10 schools with which the Honors Program has agreements, contact the Honors Office now! (Don't send off that application before you see him!)
The Transfer Center announces visits from representatives from transfer schools. Don't let finances be a deciding factor at this stage; explore what sounds interesting, whether or not you think you can afford it. Many schools who are are interested in recruiting excellent students have the wherewithal to make it financially feasible for them. Make an appointment for schools you're interested in; do it as a freshman! We will try to report visits from Honors Program Transfer Partners on this page, but check with the Transfer Office for the latest info.
If you don't have a good working relationship with a counselor yet, start working on it now.
