Articulation
What is Articulation?
Tech Prep articulation is a method designed to connect several educational organizations by means of a formal articulation agreement. The agreement identifies the student learning outcomes based on the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for students to earn college credit through successful completion of the high school/ROP course or program. This allows high school/ROP students to transfer straight into institutions of higher learning, such as Saddleback College, avoiding delay. This also prevents a student from repeating a course in high school/ROP and college.
Articulation Process for Students
For high school/ROP students who want to earn college credit for their high school/ROP course:
- Enroll in a tech prep course at your high school/ROP (see list of courses for your high school/ROP).
- Earn an “A” or “B” in the course.
- Receive a certificate from your teacher at the end of the course.
- Apply to Saddleback College.
- Submit the certificate or your high school/ROP transcript indicating the “A” or “B” in a tech prep class to a Saddleback College counselor.
- College credit for tech prep class will be awarded.
Articulation Process for Teachers
For high school/ROP teachers who want to articulate their courses with Saddleback College:
- Identify a Saddleback College course that closely parallels the high school/ROP course to be articulated.
- Submit the high school/ROP course outline to the appropriate Saddleback College Contact for review.
- A Course Articulation Agreement is created by the Saddleback College Department Chair.
- High school/ROP and college instructors review and agree on the competencies to be taught in both high school/ROP and college courses.
- Agreements are signed by high school/ROP and college officials.
- Tech prep course is added to the matrix of approved Tech Prep courses.
