H. “Michael” Collins, Senior Lab Technician

Mr. Collins’ theatre career spans over 35 years with over 200 productions. As of 2008 he is in his 17th year within the Saddleback College Department of Theatre Arts.  Throughout his career he has been an award-winning scenic designer, lighting designer, make-up artist and performer. He was an instructor for the State of California apprenticeship program and associate faculty for Saddleback College. He has a Masters from C.D.I.R. in Carpentry / Architecture / Design and a degree in Theater from Fullerton College. He is a State Licensed General Contractor and owns an outside company called “Tropical Developments” in which he designs and contracts the building of custom homes in California and Hawaii. His objective is to introduce any student that enters the scene shop to the Technical Arts of Theater and to teach them artistic skills they never new they were capable of learning. His goal is to teach students vocational skills that can be with them a life time (and have some fun in the process).
