Trombonist Ryan Dragon joins the Saddleback Jazz Lab in concert. Born in Orange County, California in 1987 Dragon began studying trombone at the age of 10 under the leadership of Bill Tole, Ira Nepus, and Joey Sellers. After finishing Esperanza High School, Dragon attended the Berklee School Of Music where he studied Jazz Composition. Dragon's first engagement was a Cirque Du Soleil show called Bananna Schpeel, a traveling show in Canada. After Cirque, Dragon spent a short stint in NY where he freelanced before finally moving to Los Angeles where he currently lives. In LA Dragon enjoys playing With Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band, John Beasley's MONK'estra, The StradBand, Kim Richmonds Concert Jazz Orchestra, John La Barbera's Big Band, Ron King's Big Band, Danny Seraphine's C.T.A, Lee Ritenhour Bill Holman and Mark Masters Ensemble to name a few.

Jazz Day with Jazz Singer Tierney Sutton

The Saddleback College Big Band welcome Grammy Nominee Jazz Singer Tierney Sutton to celebrate Jazz Day at Saddleback College. Sutton is a five-time Grammy Nominee for "Best Jazz Vocal Album" as well as for arranging. She was Jazzweek Vocalist of the Year in 2005. For the past 20 years, Sutton has fronted the Tierney Sutton Band featuring pianist Christian Jacob, bassists Trey Henry and Kevin Axt and drummer Ray Brinker. They tour throughout the world and have headlined in recent years at Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl and Jazz at Lincoln Center. For 11 years, she taught in the Jazz Studies Department at the University of Southern California. In 2008, she became the Vocal Department Chair at Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Grace Fong is a prize-winning pianist with an international career as a concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and contemporary keyboardist. Who we are….

Angels for the Arts at Saddleback is a fundraising and support organization for the Performing and Visual Arts at Saddleback College.  Angel members donate their time and talent to raise funds and assist with a variety of arts events on the campus.  The group is led by a volunteer advisory board of directors.

Why we exist…

Angel members believe in the importance of offering a full spectrum of arts to the community, with the college as the focal point.  These events bring together Orange County residents from all walks of life, for the purpose of enlightenment, entertainment, and inspiration.
