Automotive Technology

The Automotive Technology programs are designed to prepare students for employment as automotive technicians. Students may also complete their Associate in Science or Associate in Arts Degree requirements and prepare to transfer to a four-year college. Training is given in both theory and practical skills in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all types of automotive systems.

The following four certificate options are available:
     Automotive Chassis Specialist
     Automotive Engine Service Specialist
     Automotive Engine Performance Specialist
     General Automotive Technician

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Grease monkeys are out… service technicians are in. Excellent opportunities exist in the automotive field for mechanically inclined, people-oriented men and women who like to solve problems. Entry-level service technician positions at dealerships and independent shops are plentiful for skilled, motivated graduates of Saddleback’s auto tech program. Advancement to supervisory and management positions is possible for people with leadership abilities.

A life long dream!Related occupations include service manager, service advisor, motorcycle technician, and auto parts worker.

Note: Co-operative work experience (CWE) internships are possible with local dealerships and independent shops.
