 Western State Bowl live this Saturday on GSN (game preview)
The Western State Bowl between Saddleback and College of the Canyons will be broadcast live on the Gaucho Sports Network, starting at 5:00 PM. Saddleback is 8-2 on the season and rated No. 18 in the nation by JCGridiron.com while Canyons is 6-4 and rated No. 32.

 Edelstein finishes 7th at state tournament
Saddleback women’s golfer Linda Edelstein had a nice showing at the state golf tournament in Hanford, California, on Monday and Tuesday. Edelstein finished 7th at the state tournament with a two-round total of 163.

 Gaucho football to host Canyons in bowl game
The Saddleback football team thought it would be traveling out of town for a bowl game this coming weekend but there was a change of plans on Sunday when it was announced that the Gauchos would instead host a game at home. Saddleback will strap on the helmets one more time as they face College of the Canyons on Saturday at 5:00 PM in the Western States Bowl.

 Gauchos spoil the party for Griffins
The Saddleback football team turned back the Grossmont Griffins 44-27 on Saturday night and in doing so knocked Grossmont out of the Southern California playoffs. The Gauchos scored 44 points in a span of 34 minutes to finish the regular season 8-2 and will wait until Sunday to find out where they will play next week.

Saddleback and Golden West finished out the 2009 schedule with a 1-1 draw during an Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer match held Friday at Rancho Capistrano school in Mission Viejo.

 Men’s cross country qualifies for state meet
The men’s cross country team at Saddleback had three individuals finish in the top-100 in last week’s Southern California regional finals to qualify for the state meet next Saturday in Fresno. The Gauchos finished 16th overall, led by freshman Jorge Ayala.

The women’s cross country team at Saddleback is headed to the state meet after finishing 18th at the Southern California finals last Friday. Kelley Breen led the charge for the Gauchos, who will head to Woodward Park in Fresno, California, next Saturday.

The Saddleback women’s golf team had a nice showing at the Southern California finals where they finished fifth with a two-day score of 700. The Gauchos shaved 20 strokes off of their score from Monday, with a score of 340 on Tuesday.

You can help us raise funds that support Saddleback College athletic programs every time you travel.
