Menelik Watson featured in SI.com
Saddleback football player Menelik Watson signed a national letter of intent to continue his football career at Florida State University last week. This week he was featured in an article on SI.com, the online version of Sports Illustrated.

Knights' Wild Throw Ends Baseball Game
Saddleback took advantage of five runs in the first inning to jump out to a quick lead over the visiting San Diego City College Knights in a non-conference baseball game Saturday at Doug Fritz Field. But those early runs wouldn’t be enough as the Gauchos later gave up five runs in the eighth inning, then battled back from a three run deficit to defeat the Knights, 13-12, in 11 innings.

Charity doesn't work well at home for Gauchos
As a charity event it worked well, with Saddleback and Irvine Valley fans
supporting the Coaches vs Cancer cause in raising money to help a local family
as it struggles with a young son’s brain cancer. But as a basketball game it
was a bit off, like Saddleback’s free-throw shooting from the charity
stripe.

Something was definitely “off” in Saddleback’s 63-50 loss to visiting Irvine
Valley College on Friday night, and it had more to do with than just the

McCartney era starts with a win
The Sommer McCartney era kicked off in good fashion on Friday when the Saddleback baseball team opened the season with a 5-2 win at San Diego City College. The Gauchos received a fine pitching performance from Evan Manarino and a solid day at the plate from Kyle Ferrett in giving the new coach a perfect 1-0 start to his career.

Men’s tennis batters the Rams, 9-0
The men’s tennis team is off to a hot start after beating Victor Valley College, 9-0, on Thursday at the Saddleback courts. The Gauchos made quick work of the Rams, losing just 11 games in singles play while improving to 2-0 on the season.
