Johnson Called Up to Mariners Again

For the second consecutive season, former Gaucho catcher Rob Johnson was added to the Seattle Mariner's big league roster on September 1 as MLB teams were allowed to expand their rosters.
Johnson becomes the fourth catcher on the Mariner's roster and was promoted primarily as a reward for having a solid season at Tacoma (AAA) where he batted .302 with nine home runs, 48 RBI, and earned All-Pacific Coast League honors as one of the 13 best players in the league.
Johnson went 1-for-4 in the majors last season, primarily getting into games in the late innnings.
He played at Saddleback during the 2002 and 2003 seasons before continuing his education and career at the University of Houston. He was drafted in the fourth round by the Mariners and has been in the organization ever since. While at Saddleback he earned the Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year award in 2003 along with the Southern California Big Stick Award for the top hitter in the region. He also went on to earn All-American honors.
Hodges Wins 500th Game
