Kinesiology Information
AQUATICS -
Saddleback offers swimming classes for all levels, from non-swimmers through advanced swimmers. Individual workouts for cardiovascular health are developed in the Aquatic Conditioning class, or have a ball in the Advanced Water Polo course.
FITNESS - From aerobics and step aerobics to weight training and circuit training, Saddleback offers courses to rival your favorite health club. If you feel you need classes that are more relaxing, try Yoga or our Stretching, Flexibility and Conditioning course. If you're not sure what your body needs, the Survey & Assessment of Fitness courses might be a good place to start.
TEAM SPORTS -Learn new skills or enjoy the skills you already have with other enthusiasts of team sports. Courses include basketball, volleyball, football and slow-pitch softball.
INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES - If you've been finding it hard to get 21 friends together after school or on weekends for a pickup football game or baseball game, you might want to practice up on some individual sports. Saddleback courses offer many levels of instruction in golf, tennis, racquetball and badminton. Or get acquainted with one of the martial arts, such as Karate, Aikido or Tai Chi Ch'uan. We have something for everyone. Why, we even offer a course in surf camping.
TRAINING & THEORY - If you've considered a career in coaching, or want to improve your coaching skills, we offer introductory courses to Physical Education and Athletics along with courses in the principles and fundamentals of coaching and a preparation course for walk-on coaches.
HEALTH & SAFETY -Courses in Health Education are taught by members of the Physical Education staff, covering stress management, emotional health, nutrition, fitness, interpersonal relationships, drug and alcohol awareness and issues dealing with death and dying. Separate courses are offered dealing solely with women's health issues. Other courses offered include first aid ( Red Cross Certification), advanced first aid ( BLS and Emergency Response certification) and the prevention and care of athletic injuries.
DANCE - The Saddleback College Dance Department offers several technique classes at all levels for ballet, jazz, modern and aerobic dancers. In addition, courses are offered in the history of dance, rehearsal and performance, dance production and choreography. College-wide dance concerts are put on each semester and promoted as a major theater event.

INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
Since 1968, Saddleback College has been known throughout the state to have one of the best overall athletic programs. Year after year, Gaucho coaches and student-athletes earn the praises of their peers, garnering awards and honors, conference titles and state championships both as individuals and as members of a team.
Saddleback currently fields 19 different intercollegiate athletic teams with approximately 400 student-athletes competing each year. Dozens of scholarships worth hundreds of thousands of dollars are offered to Saddleback student-athletes each year, allowing them to continue their athletic and academic progress at the four-year level.
The facilities provided for Saddleback's athletic teams are also some of the finest available. The college athletic facilities include a golf driving range on campus, eight lighted tennis courts, a softball complex with two lighted fields, a baseball stadium with professional-quality lights, an on-campus football stadium which also features an all-weather rubber track, an Olympic-size swimming pool with one-meter and three-meter springboards, and a 2,000-seat gymnasium.
Saddleback athletic teams have accounted for over 120 conference titles, 21 state championships, 17 state runner-up finishes, and three National Championships.

SPORTS MEDICINE PROGRAM
Saddleback College features a sports medicine program to prepare students for their educational career goals as an athletic trainer, exercise physiologist, physical therapist and muscular therapist. Volunteer student athletic trainers are an integral part of our sports medicine program assisting the proper facilitation of injury prevention, evaluation and treatment of our intercollegiate student athletes.
