Gauchos Conclude Season With Pair of Victories
Saddleback wrapped up the 2008 women's water polo season with a pair of victories in the Orange Empire Conference tournament to claim fifth place in the event. The Gauchos fell to Fullerton in the quarterfinal round which bumped the team into the lower bracket. Saddleback pounded host Cypress 16-5 to qualify for the fifth place game where it edged Santa Ana, 9-8.
The Gauchos conclude the season with a 7-18 overall record and a 3-6 mark in conference play.
Conference Tournament Schedule Set
The Saddleback men's water polo team will open the 2008 conference tournament at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday as the Gauchos face Fullerton. Saddleback is seeded No. 4 in the tournament with Fullerton seeded No. 5. The winner advances to play top-seeded Golden West on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. while the loser advances to the fifth place game at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. All games will be played on the Cypress College campus.
The Saddleback women's water polo team is seeded No. 6 in the OEC women's tournament and will play No. 3 seed Fullerton at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7. The loser will play again at 1:00 p.m. on Friday while the winner advances to play at 2:10 p.m. on Friday. The championship game will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. All games will be held on the Cypress College campus.

Women Defeat Cypress
The Saddleback College women’s water polo team beat Cypress 16-5 Wednesday afternoon during Orange Empire Conference play in the Saddleback campus pool.
Dani Peeler led the Gauchos with eight goals while Kim Chene, Whitney Werner, and Morrae Bullard each tallied two goals. Peeler had five goals in the first half as Saddleback jumped out to a 8-0 halftime lead. Cypress battled back with four goals in the third quarter but Saddleback answered with six goals in the fourth quarter.
The Gauchos improve to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in Orange Empire Conference play. Cypress falls to 1-9, 0-3. .
Women's Water polo falls to Riverside
The women's water polo team lost to Riverside by the score of 18-5 on Wednesday to fall to 0-2 in conference play.
