11/20/12: Three Gauchos earn all-conference honors

Three members of the Saddleback College women's water polo team earned all-conference recognition according to a recent release from the Orange Empire Conference.

Sophomore Sarah Tennis (pictured left) was named to the first-team all-conference while sophomores Shelby Schmidt (pictured right) and Melissa Klaeb were named to the second-team all-conference.

The Gauchos finished the season with a 3-20 overall record, finishing sixth in the conference in conference games (5-1) but dropping both contests in the conference championship tournament to finish seventh.






9/19/12: Gauchos fall to Cypress in OEC match

Saddleback dropped a 15-7 decision to visiting Cypress College in an Orange Empire Conference women's water polo match on Wednesday, dropping the team to 0-2 in conference play.

The Gauchos found themselves in a quick hole, trailing 6-1 at the end of the first quarter and 10-2 at halftime. A fourth quarter surge, including a pair of late goals by Melissa Klaeb (pictured), gave the Gauchos an edge in the fourth quarter but it wouldn't be enough to catch the Chargers.

Saddleback will play in a couple of tournaments coming up, including this weekend's Mt. San Antonio tournament on Friday and Saturday, September 21-22.
