Men's Water Polo Continues to Build Program

In 32 seasons of intercollegiate water polo, Saddleback teams have won well over 400 games and have been invited to the Southern California Regional playoffs 14 times - including seven times in the past 11 seasons.
The Gauchos captured back-to-back conference championships in 1997 and 1998, going on to place fourth at the state tournament in 1998. Saddleback has won nine conference titles and finished as conference runner-up six times.
Pat Higginson is the men's water polo coach while working with the entire aquatics program at Saddleback. The warm Southern California sun, the proximity to the ocean, and the available access to pools on a year-round basis lend themselves to the development of some outstanding water polo players in this area. The sport is not only competitive for the players, but is also interesting to watch for the fans.
