Health Career Readiness Program ---
Fast Track To Success
Special program for incoming college freshmen interested in gaining skills essential to success in health careers and exploring allied health career opportunities. This innovative program, developed through the college ’s division of Health Sciences and Human Services, will meet at Saddleback College this summer and will emphasize healthcare-related skills such as: applied math, medical terminology and professional communication. There will also be exciting “hands on” opportunities to learn about various healthcare careers, including medical assistant, paramedic, emergency medical technician (EMT), phlebotomist, medical lab technician, nursing, and health information technologist.
Sharpen academic skills relevant to Allied Health Careers
Utilize field experts and effective resources to deliver learning materials
Contribute to student success by providing a Student Success Coach
Create learning communities among students to improve communication
Enhance program accessibility with online components and convenient scheduling
Support contextualized learning with career exploration interwoven throughout
Sustain continuous learning by providing pre- and post-assessment evaluation
The Health Career Readiness Program is going to be conducted on the Saddleback College Campus in the Health Sciences Building. Participants will discover/learn a wide variety of healthcare activities and explore numerous career options. It's a fun way to learn about health-related careers, meet others, and experience college life.
Program Goals
Building strong foundational skill sets necessary for success in an Allied Health Career.
Increasing retention rate and reducing time to completion in Allied Health Degree Programs.
Develop skill sets in potential employees for competitive job market.
Develop an evidence-based outcome assessment that can be applied to other degree programs at Saddleback College.
