How does the program work?
Once we receive notice of your interest, we will contact you or your school to receive feedback as to what your individual school needs are. We then will design a proposal that is tailored to fit the needs of the specific school site (sample proposal). We have a number of classes that we offer during the summer (view Summer 2009) and we would be happy to bring these classes to the school sites during the academic year. We also can develop new classes as needed.
Although we have specific examples outlined in our proposal, we are flexible regarding the meetings and times of each session. We can bring in our own teachers or hire teachers and staff who currently work at the individual school sites.
Just like College For Kids, the classes are fee-based; however, we also have a component where we can provide individual scholarship(s) or discounts to participants or a portion of the funding can go back to the PTA or school.
Our goal is to develop a tailor-made program that will fill the needs of our community while also bringing the Saddleback College For Kids experience to the youth of our community.
Is there any cost to the hosting elementary school?
Because it is a fee-based structure, the fees would be paid for by the participants (parents/guardians). The school would provide the facilities (i.e., classrooms, restrooms, etc.).
What are the advantages to the school?
The school will be able to provide supplemental classes in needed areas and children can participate in College For Kids without having to leave their neighborhoods.
