Welcome to the CSNA of Saddleback College
Saddleback College Chapter of CNSA is part of the National Student Nurses' Association or NSNA. The California Nursing Students' Association is composed of over 3600 members who are committed to seeking optimal educational, developmental, and professional growth within today's various healthcare settings.
At Saddleback, we go a little further by fostering success within the nursing program as well as in the healthcare field. We do this by mentoring fellow students, hosting a BBQ during each new semester's orientation, NCLEX-RN reviews, and monthly speakers during our general meeting, and assisting our faculty with events put on by the Student Success Grant.
We are known on campus for our monthly meetings in which we host speakers from various fields of nursing and provide a free lunch for all those attending. The speakers we invite are from all walks of nursing, such as the ER, Labor and Delivery, Intensive Care Units, Transport nursing, Hospice, Travel Nursing, and many more. There are also chances to win great prizes. Please look at the calendar to find out when our next general meeting is.
We are active in community health and outreach. In the past we have collected socks and unused toiletries to be distributed to the homeless in and around Orange County. We have helped raise money to send nursing students who were victims of Katrina to the national convention this April. We have helped raise over $1300 for Walk America March of Dimes.
We have been recognized nationally at the NSNA’s Nation Convention, April 11th-15th, in Anaheim. At Convention, Saddleback College received numerous awards, scholarships, and recognition for election onto the National Board of Nominating and Elections Committee (NEC), Service on the 2006-07 NSNA Board as a Resolutions Committee Member for the 2007 Annual Convention, adoption of the Resolution calling for research on pain in the neonate population, National Award for Most Improved Chapter Newsletter by the NSNA, scholarships from The Promise of Nursing and the Foundation of the NSNA, Inc, and were awarded with the Project In Touch (PIT) Super Recruiter for recruiting 100-109 new members into the Saddleback Chapter membership which resulted in Saddleback also receiving the Gold Precious Metal Award for increasing membership by 100-199 new or renewed members.
Saddleback College is also the home of BEVEL UP, our Chapter’s newsletter. The newsletter focuses on exciting events that our chapter is involved in at the local and national school level along with fundraising events, community health and outreach projects, information on our general meetings and speakers, and faculty “Guess Who”. We also feature students from different semesters who give their reflections on nursing school.
