Chuck Weghorst retired in 2000 from Trans World Airlines after 36 years of service in various Sales and Marketing positions. His most recent title was Director of Passenger Sales, Southern California & Hawaii. Prior to that he served as General Sales Manager from 1980-1992. At TWA he was involved in recruiting, training and motivating a highly skilled sales staff of 28 people. He received TWA’s Award of Excellence three times and the President’s Club award as well. The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) honored him as the Allied Member of the Year in 1996.
Chuck has participated in numerous travel panels and travel talk shows on both radio and television. He has conducted countless travel seminars and travel agent familiarization trips and participated in over 100 travel trade shows. Until recently, he was still an active member of ASTA, PROST, TRIPS and SKAL, and served on the travel advisory boards of several colleges. Chuck graduated from the University of Pittsburgh as a Speech major, which greatly helped him throughout his extensive career in the travel industry.
He has been teaching Travel and Tourism classes at Saddleback College since 1992. From 1995 through 2007 he taught similar classes at MiraCosta College in Oceanside and 2 years at San Bernardino College in 1996 and 1997. Chuck acted as consultant to a major Los Angeles travel company for a number of years, providing on-line training as well as editing their constantly growing website. An avid reader of mysteries, a loyal follower of the Pittsburgh Steelers and an opera, ballet and symphony addict, travel remains his main interest.
