Students Collaborate with Award Winning San Clemete Artist in Colorful Pacific Mural
Regina Hurley, the noted southern California Artist and Sculptor, is unveiling her latest project--a stunning mural of enchanting Tahiti. Created as a collaborative work with the students in her Saddleback College Emeritus multi-media painting class, this mural proves that no matter where you are in life, you can learn new skills. The students working on this project, mostly seniors, have never painted a mural before and the results will amaze you. Additional works of art by Regina and the students will be on display.
The mural, which was created over a period of four weeks, was inspired by the Hurley's honeymoon trip to Tahiti several years ago. When asked why she chose this particular subject, Regina said "Last summer while swimming laps in my pool, I was thinking of my upcoming class projects and saw the long white wall as a potential canvas. The images of Tahiti kept appearing in my mind. From a selection of previous photos taken while on my honeymoon, I roughly designed the idea of a panoramic coastline and let the students fill in the blanks." The demands of this project were challenging for the students and at times some feared that they did not have the expertise to pull it off. Someone commented "We can always take our rollers and return it to a white wall again".

Come and see the beautiful results of what hard work and inspiration can create. You'll be able to hear the full story from both the teacher and the students during the afternoon's events. Photographs will also be available showing the mural’s progress from blank wall to stunning mural.
