COURSE DESCRIPTION
Examines the fundamentals of the development and practice of sexuality
in the human being and the historical, psychological, and psychosocial
aspects of human sexuality from childhood to old age, including human sexual
anatomy, fulfillment differences between males and females, sexual dysfunction
and corrective therapy.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Describe the multi-faceted and complex nature of human sexuality.
2. Integrate the interaction of the biological bases with the psychological
and historical influences in our society.
3. Trace the development of human sexuality from childhood to old age.
4. Compare the variations in sexuality across social classes, ethnic
groups, other cultures and other species.

All quizzes
are multiple choice. A scantron and pencil will be required. There are
no make-ups scheduled for missed quizzes.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
Cheating of any sort will not be tolerated. Any student who is
caught cheating will receive a zero on that assignment of exam. Cheating
includes, but is not limited to:
· Looking at another student's paper during an exam
· Using any notes/electronic devices not approved by me during
an exam
· Talking to another student about test material during an exam
· Plagiarism - Using someone else's words or ideas, and presenting
them as your own
OUTSIDE
ASSIGNMENT - (SEE END OF DISCUSSION TOPICS)
The outside assignment
will be graded on a pass/fail basis. If no outside assignment is completed,
your final grade will be lowered.
ATTENDANCE
If you miss 6 or more class sessions
you can be dropped from the course. Attendance/tardiness will be evaluated
in the final grade. When tardy, it is the student's responsibility to contact
the instructor for purposes of the roll.

and pharmaceutical), chemicals or foods, as aphrodisiacs. Also discuss
drugs, etc., that interfere with sexual functioning.

Discuss motives behind jealousy and suggestions
for decreasing such feelings.

List and discuss suggestions for managing
rejection.

Discuss methods used by men and women
to reveal that they are sexually receptive.

Discuss the sexual fantasies of men and
women and arguments (pro and con) about sharing fantasies to discover each
other's needs.

Describe 5 basic lifestyles and differences
in patterns of relationships between lesbians and gay males.

Present perspectives or pro-choice and
right to life positions.

Discuss how both partners can share contraceptive
responsibilities with four different methods.

Discuss several steps an infertile couple
can take to increase the chances of pregnancy.

Role-play several situations whereby parents
answer questions from their children such as: Where do babies come from,
what is the difference between boys and girls, etc.

do to prepare themselves for marriage.

Discuss benefits and difficulties of open
and group marriages.

Prepare and discuss the pros and cons
of relationship/marriage contracts.

Discuss ways in which effective communication
can help resolve a sexual problem.

Discuss ethical, moral and legal reasons
why an individual should inform his or her sexual partners that he or she
has been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease.

Describe ways in which a father may initiate
and maintain an incestuous involvement with his daughter (also mother-son).

Discuss several precautions an individual
may take to reduce the risk of becoming a rape victim (stranger or date)
and suggestions for how an individual may participate meaningfully in his
or her partner's recovery from rape.
