About Me

I began teaching at Saddleback College in 2004. Over the last 14 years, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of age groups ranging from infancy to elementary to middle school to college level students.

The courses I teach are: Introduction to Early Childhood Curriculum, Teaching in a Diverse Society, Preschool Learning Foundations: Mathematics Domain, Cooking with Young Children, and Gardening with Young Children.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I attend workshops and NAEYC conferences to keep abreast of current research and practices in the field of early childhood, facilitate the department’s tutoring program, coordinate lab placement for students, help organize and support department events like the CD/EDUC Information Night, and serve as a Professional Growth Advisor to students and staff.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego and my master’s degree in Early Childhood Curriculum from Cal State University, Bakersfield.

I spent the early part of my career working with young children in a private preschool setting and then went on to pursue an elementary teaching position, earning a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal State University, Bakersfield. I currently hold a teaching position within the Capistrano Unified School District. I have taught various grade levels, including kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth grades.

It is through these experiences that I am able to impart my knowledge of current, innovative teaching practices so that students develop a strong curriculum foundation to implement hands on learning experiences for young children. Curriculum development is a fundamental component to teaching and continues to be my passion and focus in my career.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters, ages 5 years and one and half year old. It has been such a joy to watch my girls grow and develop. Each day brings a new experience and they never cease to amaze me with their talents. My hobbies include spending time outdoors, reading, hiking, surfing, and cooking.
