Catalog Course Description
A practical application of nutrition education in the early childhood setting. Current teaching strategies and nutritional activities that promote a positive learning environment, student participation, and home-school integration will be emphasized.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, each student will be able to:
1.Integrate nutrition into the regular daily program in all types of early childhood settings.
2.Demonstrate ways to make meals and snacks pleasant experiences that encourage children to enjoy healthful foods.
3.Create recipes and simple directions of activities for students to follow.
4.Facilitate activities that incorporate the home-school connection and encourage parent participation.
5.Understand nutritional information about young children to help serve healthful foods that meet their nutritional needs.
