The Child Development department will be hiring up to two tutors to assist Child Development students with skills for success such as note taking, assignment completion, study skills, computer use, online course strategies, and strategies for students whose first language is not English. These tutors will attend core child development classes, provide time to students before and after class to answer questions and provide support, hold weekly sessions for students who need assistance and provide support via email and telephone for distance students.
The requirements for this position are as follows:
• Demonstrated success (3.0 GPA or above) in at least 12 units of Child Development or related course work documented on official or unofficial transcripts.
• A letter of recommendation from a Saddleback instructor (any discipline).
• A paragraph describing your preparation and experience that would make you a successful candidate for this position.
Priority will be given to Child Development majors, but other majors will certainly be considered.
Additional Information:
• It is expected that tutors will attend classes on T/Th mornings and/or M/W evenings with one to two additional support sessions scheduled each week at a time to be determined, but could include evenings or weekends. Additionally, tutors will meet at least bi-weekly with the project coordinator.
• Requests to be considered will be accepted beginning immediately.
• Requests will be reviewed and candidates will be invited to an interview in early August.
• The positions can begin as early as August 15th.
• Rate of pay is $12.00 per hour
• Once candidates are selected, they will fill out district human resources paperwork and obtain required livescan fingerprints.
