General Horticulture
General Landscape Design
Plant Identification
The OSA recognizes completion of a
basic set of courses at Saddleback College in an occupational area.
These are NOT occupational Certificates but they often include courses leading
to the full certificates in
Horticulture and Landscape Design. The OSA is designed to document
progress and achievement in the study area.
Applications for these awards are
made at Admissions and Records beginning with the start of Fall
semester 2003.
Students recently completing the requirements may apply even it they have
finished coursework prior to Fall 2003.

Hort 20 – Introduction to Horticultural Sciences (4.0 units)
Hort 112 – Plant Propagation (3.0 units)
Hort 113 – Soils and Fertilizers (3.0 units)
General Landscape Design
Hort 7 – Introduction to Landscape Design (3.0 units)
Hort 109 – Planting Design (3.0 units)
Hort 130 – Hardscape and Construction Materials (3.0 units)
Plant Identification
Hort 10 – Plant Materials: Annuals and Groundcovers (3.0 units)
Hort 11 – Plant Materials: Trees and Shrubs (3.0 units)
Hort 29 – Ornamental
