THE CURRICULUM
The Dance Department curriculum features training in ballet, jazz,
tap, modern and Pilates. Pre-professional students are encouraged
to expand their dance knowledge and creativity through classes in
Exercize for Dancers, History of Dance, Choreography, Dance
Production and Rehearsal and Performance.
DEGREE PROGRAM
Students can earn an Associate of Arts Degree in Dance by taking a
minimum of 60 units with an overall GPA of 2.0 and completing the
required dance and general eductation courses.
THE FACILITIES
The Dance Department studio has a sprung hardwood floor, extensive
sound equipment and mirrors on three sides, allowing for meticulous
attention to alignment and movement sequences. The Department
presents two concerts each year. These performances are held in the
intimate 405 seat McKinney Theatre, which is equiped with a maley floor,
cyclorama, fly system, computerized lighting system, dressing rooms,
green room and large scene shop. In addition, the college has its
own cable television station which broadcasts the Dance Department's
concerts throughout South Orange County.
THE FACULTY
Faculty members for the Dance Department have been carefully
selected for both their dance and teaching experience. All faculty
members have performed and taught throughout the country. In
addition, regional, national and international dance artists are
invited each year to conduct master classes.
AUDITIONS
Auditions are not required for admission into the Dance Department.
However auditions are required for participation in the performing
ensemble which produces a major concert each semester. These
auditions are held the first week of classes each semester.
