Instructor Bio
Elizabeth Arreaga
Elizabeth was born in San Diego CA at the Naval Base Hospital. Her family moved around a lot the first two years of her life. After her father left the military the family settled in Norwalk CA San Diego when Elizabeth was in the second grade. After a few years in San Diego the Aerospace industry took a hit and her father was laid off. He quickly found another job in Los Angeles. The family moved in order for her father to work. The work did not last though, after a few years the entire California operation was closed and her father was out of work again. This was a difficult time for Elizabeth and her family was homeless for a short time. This was a life changing event for the entire family. Elizabeth made several mistakes that are typical of children living in poverty. She dropped out of high school and became a teen mom. When she had her son she decided to turn things around. She started to attend independent studies to obtain her high school diploma. Once she finished with that she registerd at Cypress College and obtained her AA in Liberal Studies. From there she was accepted to CSU Fullerton where she obtained both her BA and MA in Sociology. She is currently working at several colleges and working toward her Ph.D.
