Paul Curtis discusses the live food culture room, how it is set up and the basic routine for maintaining high yield live food products for the larval fish to feed on to students enrolled in the college's new program.
Course Description
An introduction to the science of rearing marine and freshwater organisms used for fisheries enhancement, ornamental trade and  food production. Organisms, culture systems and the basic knowledge used to culture them will be explored. The impact of technology and conservation issues will be covered.  Labs will  focus on techniques that are standard in the industry and will occur at our campus facility as well as collaborating facilities, such as the Hubbs-Sea World Research Hatchery in Carsbad. Labs may include field trip(s). Transfers to UC.
