Course Syllabus

MST 207: Internship

Aquarium & Aquaculture Science

 

Course Description:
Combines on-campus instruction with work-based learning skills for local public, research and commercial aquariums or aquaculture facilities for on-the-job training preparation. Concurrent enrollment in CWE 168/ 169. Instructor: Julie Anderson

Co-Operative Work Experience, Aquarium & Aquaculture Science. Supervised work experience extending classroom- based occupational learning at an on-the-job learning station relating to the student's occupational goal; employment related to major. Student, instructor, and employer will cooperatively develop a minimum of three learning objectives. One unit of credit awarded for each 75 hours of paid or 60 hours of volunteer employment, for successful completion of learning objectives, and for attendance at scheduled seminar sessions. A maximum of four units may be applied toward major requirements for certificate

1 – 1 ½” 3-ring binder for your MST 207 Manual

1 – Folder (TBA) for your final “Portfolio Project”

1 - ¾” diskette or Zip disk (IBM compatible)

 
 
This course will integrate the use of Blackboard, an electronic teaching platform, to promote the use of technology & distance education (so please bear with us as we transition to this format.)

 Grades are based on percent of accumulative points earned and are assigned as straight percentage; 90-100% = A, 89-78% = B, 77-68% = C etc. If you do not want a grade, you must submit a form for Credit/No Credit by the deadline. Caution* Certificate or Associate Degree candidates must take this for letter grade

Attendance:  You are expected to attend and participate at each meeting You may not miss more than 1.5 scheduled class meetings (or a total of 4.5 hrs) of absences throughout the summer semester.  This will result in an automatic Failing grade.  If you must miss a class, you are responsible for announcements and assignments as they are posted on the website.  Please check website for updates. Assignments must be made up for excused absences, only with prior approval from instructor.
