Katie checks the pH in the Lagoon tank containing several of the "fragmented" corals.
Carrie running water quality measurements on her project tank.
Jen and Chris feeding the fish
in their reef tank
Students propagate corals by participating in a lab exercise designed to propagate our "mother stock" for  our programs use in student and class projects! Students preparing to acclimate and transfer specimens to the classroom aquarium Peggy learns how to handle a small smooth hound shark for the first time as she prepares to measure and weigh him for our record books.
Tony adjusts the power head in his reef tank (10/00)
Barret cleaning the Visi-Jet Protein skimmer used in his aquarium project.
Mike and Katie set up a large cold water reef tank out on the patio.
Students working with  their
project tanks during lab time.
Jacque helps with maintenance and upgrades in the crawl space behind the multiple tanks.
Cyd double checks the student tank
to ensure proper care is given.
Chris installs the new sump tank for the multiple tank system.
Students of the Fall 99 class, set up the first series of tanks in the Greenhouse.
The combination of skill levels works great. Sherry guides Kristen in setting up a filters and pumps in her tank.
Kelly works with one of the large tanks  in the greenhouse. This tank now houses the orphan fish with a refugium of 6 mangroves.
Students discuss the implementation of their project assignment in the greenhouse.
Ian, working with his newly set up  "plenum" system. Natural light is  augmented with actinics.  The system was set up 10/99 and is doing extremely well.

6  red mangrove propagules were unpacked, damanged roots trimmed, and them mounted in styrofoam floats to begin acclimation to seawater.
Sherry has just finished setting up the acclimation tank for the 6 mangroves. Investigation of light intensity and nutrient removal is still in the works.
Ian and Joe working with their project. The large wet chemistry bench was donated by Endevco Inc., and is used as our coral propagation tank.
Students run water quality tests, record data and establish a routine maintenance activity for their projects.
Chris is reworking the water lines to hook-up the additional 3 large tanks to our existing multiple tank system above.
Tasha sets up the water lines for a  series of small tanks that will be used in the greenhouse for algae, coral and mangroves projects.
