June came to Saddleback in 2001 after teaching in the child development departments of both the University of La Verne and Fullerton College. Along with her responsibilities on campus June is active in state and national associations that advocate for best policy and practices for young children. June sits on the state advisory board for the CDTC and provides technical assistance to So Cal child development departments as they work to make curriculum changes necessary for the CCC Curriculum Alignment Project. At the national level June is a peer-reviewer for the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Associate Degree Accreditation Program. She earned her B.S. and Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential at San Bernardino State University, Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction from CSU Fullerton and is nearing completion of her PhD in Teaching and Learning from Claremont Graduate University. In addition to raising three children June has worked as a preschool teacher, infant toddler family childcare provider, k-12 substitute teacher and has volunteered for many years in community and youth group programs serving children and families. Putting all of her experiences together to make course work come alive for students and guiding them to develop strong and effective teaching practices is the most enjoyable part of teaching for June.

I received my Elementary Teaching Credential and my Master;s Degree in Early Childhood Education from CSULB. II spent my early years teaching disadvantaged elementary children in the Long Beach. After I had my three children, I became interested in the Parent Education Classes offered through the community colleges. At first I attended them but eventually taught them. However, the college "cut" the course saying they were "non vocational". By that time, I had developed a "following" and continued to teach parenting classes and workshops through Irvine Community Services.
About 7 years ago, I got back into the elementary classroom teaching kindergarten and first grade at Cielo Vista Elementary School in Mission View. I continue to teach Developmental Psychology and LOVE to observe theory in everyday practice. My lectures can be illustrated by examples of behavior I've observed that day! |

Education: I graduated with a B.A. from Loyola Marymount University and a M.S. in School Counseling from CSU, Long Beach. In addition to earning my Pupil Personnel Services Credential at Long Beach, I have also earned a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit, with many of my courses taken right here at Saddleback!
Teaching Experience: I currently teach Developmental Psychology and Child Guidance and Communication at the Saddleback campus. My most recent careers were preschool teacher and director.
Personal Information: My husband and I are the proud parents of four wonderful children.
I love teaching Developmental Psychology because I believe the course is the foundation for teaching in preschool and at every level. I think it brings an understanding that helps us learn about ourselves as well as others, making us better teachers, parents, and caregivers. |
