Earn while you learn!
We have a new opportunity this semester to provide paid internships for child development students enabling them to "earn while they learn" at the Saddleback Child Development as teacher assistants and as assistants to the Child Development Faculty.
- Positions are 20 hours per week
- Schedule to be determined by the Faculty and Center director
- Rate of pay will be $10.00 per hour.
- Positions are for one semester each and are renewable.
Teacher assistant interns will work at the child development center as assistants to the classroom teachers in providing activities and care for children ages 2-6. Students in CDES 110 and 121 may use the internship hours to meet their lab hour requirement as teacher assistants.
Faculty assistant interns will work with the faculty and assist with clerical and program support for the child development department. Computer and office skills including telephoning, website updates, photography, documentation panels, filing, creation of posters and flyers, and knowledge of child development permit requirements all helpful.
To be eligible students must:
- Be Child Development and Educational Studies majors at Saddleback College
- Be currently enrolled in at least 12 units (child development or general education)
- Have completed or be in progress this semester of completing 24 units of early childhood education/child development units.

- Include a list of completed and currently enrolled classes (transcripts will be required for chosen interns)
- Include a 200 word statement demonstrating how receiving such an internship might impact the development of your teaching practices and career in the field of early childhood.
- Please indicate if you are interested in a Teacher assistant or a Faculty assistant position.
Selected students will be contacted via email and invited for an interview prior to final selection.
