Degrees & Experience

I graduated with Masters in both Sociology and Demographic & Social Analysis from the University of California, Irvine. My specializations are Race & Ethnicty, Immigration, Marriage & Family, Residential Segregation, Population Studies, and Educational Inequality. I have taught Sociology at Saddleback College, Orange Coast College, Irvine Valey College, and Golden West College.

My Classroom

I do many activities you will most likely not find in other classes. Such as doing social experiments, having change your mind debates, and much more. I also like to use popular media such as South Park, Family Guy, and etc to illustrate sociological points. Remember sociology can be applied anywhere.

My Current Project

Many of my students have shared how much they enjoy the application of media to sociology. This inspired me to create a growing blog, that is a collection of these connections and a resource for my students. Check out my sociology in the media blog http://sociologyinthemedia.wordpress.com/.

My Love

I discovered sociology my senior year of high school and since then it has become a life long love affair. I think sociologically constantly. Being a sociologist 24/7 as enriched my life I love to share my passion for sociology with my wonderful students.

Fun Facts

Some of my other hobbies include traveling (I am an addict and hope to make it to every continent one day!), practicing Muay Thai, exploring random places, cooking with my wonderful husband, reading, and gaming.
