Water Bacteriology Abstract

You are to write a report (in the form of an abstract) regarding the safeness of your water sample for the local water district.  They want your recommendation for whether you would allow people to utilize the water in your collection area.

Include the following in your abstract on your water sample collected:

Remember your abstract has a brief introduction (including hypothesis begin tested), methods, pertinent results and discussion/conclusion.

·        Date and location where you collected your sample.  Why this location was selected.

·        Types of tests run on your sample

·        Results of these tests (MPN, Gram + or -, etc.).  Don’t forget to include any numbers

·        Discussion: what do your results mean (i.e. are there coliform bacteria present?)

o       Is the water safe for consumption, play, etc.

o       Discuss the conditions that may have caused the results that you got.

o       If you need to consume the water, what would your recommend be

o       If you deem it unsafe, what recommendations would you offer before you allow people to use the water again
