COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Covers installing and configuring a Linux Apache web server, MySQL, and PHP. Emphasizes PHP and MySQL, covers case studies of typical Business to Consumer (B2C) E-commerce web sites, and provides highlights of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP-Perl-Python) tools. Students will study PHP and MySQL code for shopping carts and address books. This course is geared for both intermediate and advanced Internet users.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Install dual boot version of Linux/MSWindows on a home computer.
2. Install and configure Apache Web server.
3. Use Apache virtual hosting, monitoring and performance tuning.
4. Install and configure an Apache/MySQL/PHP Web application server.
5. Use the MySQL language to access, and manipulate data from a database.
6. Use E-Commerce shopping cart and store fronts.
7. Explain the design of advance B2C E-Commerce web-sites.

Course Grading:
Course grade is taken purely from assignments and final project. Class will have about 10 assignments, predominantely PHP Web Page assignments, but you will also have a two MySQL and one or two shell scripting assignments. You will be post all PHP assignments on cim.saddleback.edu/~username. All students are required to have their Saddleback E-mail forwarded to an account that you use frequently, preferably you can forward blackboard/Saddleback e-mail’s account to your main e-mail. When sending me e-mails, make sure you include PHP or CIM205B in the subject line.

DROPPING THE CLASS/ATTENDANCE:
It is the student's responsibility to officially withdraw (drop) from the class. Instructor may drop students under the following conditions:
REGRADING POLICY:
Sometimes you get a grade that you don't like, usually for one of the following reasons:
1. There was a clerical error (i.e., the points were added up wrong).
2. You think you did something right, and I think you did it wrong.
If you discover a clerical error, tell me immediately. The following Statute of Limitations will apply: You have one week from the day any graded assignment or test is returned to you to appeal the grade you received. After one week, I will assume that you believe the grade you got is the correct one. After one week, grades are unchangeable, fixed, and permanent.
Students with disabilities are entitled to appropriate accommodations. If you have specific disabilities requiring accommodations, let your instructor know the first 10 days of the semester so that your learning needs may be met and for referral to the Special Services office where documentation of your disability will be provided to receive services and accommodations. The Special Services Office is in Student Services Center, Room 113.

Individual nd small group counseling information such as academic planning and review of transcripts is available by appointment. All other student services are available on campus during normal business hours.
Any exceptions to the above statements will be considered individually & only if you approach me about the proposed exception at least a week in advance.
