Test 1 Footer
All sites should have a footer, you need to create footer with contact and about information. Put this footer at the bottom of you main home page. More detailed information...
- Contact information should always have an e-mail contact link. if interested you may want to create a Spam-Proof e-mail address Web page, BoAllen creates a JavaScript script, that makes it very difficult for spambots to harvest e-mail addresses. You can also draw images in Fireworks/Photoshop or create a e-mail contact link using Flash. Other points to consider in contact information are formal names, business locations or business phone number. For this part of the test you need only a basic mailto link.
- Add an about_me link, you can always link to facebook.
.
- If you are still using CS3 generate a SiteMap bitmap. Before generating the site map make sure all book folders have been cloaked; Refer to video 3 on cim-dreamweaver interface. The first video for chapter 4 has a discussion on creating a site map. Also the last video of chapter 1 has a short sit e map discussion. The steps to generate a site map with Dreamweaver are....
- On File Panel click right most expand icon - this gives you a full local and remote file view
- New buttons icons will appear click site map icon, This icon has two options map only, map & files.
You can open up tripsmart and blooms folders on the image screen
- With site map showing Use File --> Save Site Map
- Give your bitmap a save file name like site.bmp
- Link to this bmp on the bottom footer
- Optional Site Map Research. With CS4 Dreamweaver dropped support for site map, In place of a site map, look into XML site maps. XML site maps have become a standard that search engines use to index Web sites. This site has an XML site map generator. Enter your full URL make sure you include index.html, then look at the bottom of the Web page, for the XML output. Don't submit your Web site to a Search engine. Don't copy the XML data to cim, this is for your interest only. If you must have a site map, which isn't required for CS4 users, take advantage of one of a 30 day trail version of Web based site map generator: You can look into A1 Website and this application software Smart Draw looks good. Reminder it is optional for CS4 users to post a graphic site map, don't post any XML output or do a Search engine submit. You can use search bliss, which is a javascript widget site.
I have done these three things at the bottom of this page. Yahoo and Most popular also have a footer, In Chapter 6 assignment we will be adding copyright - IP (Intellectual Property) right notices to your footer.
