Welcome to the Saddleback College Scholarship Program

DEADLINE: March 15, 2011

(Please read instructions carefully before applying)

Please complete the Saddleback College Application. Fill in all the required information, and submit by 11:59 p.m. (PST), March 15, 2011.

HANDWRITTEN APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

• Select the student type that most closely matches you. Scholarship determinations will be dependent upon whether you will be attending Saddleback College in the fall semester, 2011, as a continuing Saddleback College student, transferring to another college. or a new student.

• Make sure to complete the entire scholarship application and submit, as well as review your application weekly as additional scholarships may be added during the open scholarship application process.

• Students currently attending Saddleback College or another college must have completed at least 6 units with a letter grade of at least a 2.0 GPA by the end of the fall semester 2010.

• Students who plan on returning to Saddleback College in the 2011/2012 school year and enroll in a minimum of 6 units.

OR

Students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or to another college in the fall semester 2011. You will be required to provide evidence of that transfer.

You must ask at least one Saddleback College faculty member to complete the Personal Recommendation form. We strongly recommend asking the recommender if they are willing to provide a recommendation.

Download the recommendation form and email it to your faculty member for completion. Attach completed recommendation form to your scholarship application in the document upload prior to the scholarship deadline of March 15, 2011.

High school teachers, advisors and employer's are acceptable. Relatives, friends and neighbors are not acceptable.

• The Scholarship Committee is comprised of faculty, staff, administrators and community volunteers.  Scholarships are awarded on the basis of evaluation, the criteria and the funds available. Unfortunately, no student is guaranteed a scholarship in the process, as we have more applicants than scholarships available.

• At the end of April or early May you will receive an E-Mail informing you that you have been awarded a scholarship(s).

• All scholarship recipients are invited to an awards ceremony in May, 2011. You are highly encouraged to attend.

• After the Awards Program, you will receive a letter explaining the steps in receiving your scholarship(s).

• Students must write a Thank-You Letter to your donor(s).

• New or continuing students at Saddleback College must enroll in fall semester, 2011 classes for checks to be ordered for disbursement at the beginning of the term. Transferring students must provide documentation of acceptance to their transfer institution to the Student Financial Assistance and Scholarship Office. Scholarship disbursements will be mailed to the transfer institution.
