Welcome to the Saddleback College Scholarship Program

DEADLINE: March 15, 2010

(Please read instructions carefully before applying)

Please complete the application from the college website. Fill in the required information and submit by 11:59 p.m. (PST), March 15, 2010.

HANDWRITTEN APPLICATONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!!

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

• Select what type of student most closely matches you. You will de directed to the next questions on how you answer question one on the application.

• Scholarship determination will be whether you will be attending Saddleback College in the fall semester, 2010, as a new student, a continuing Saddleback College student or you will be transferring to another college.

• Review your application weekly as additional scholarships may be added during the open scholarship application process.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Students currently attending Saddleback College or another college must have completed at least 6 units with a letter grade by the end of the fall semester 2009.

• You will earn at least a 2.0 GPA and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of the semester.

• You plan on returning to Saddleback College in the fall 2010 and the spring of 2011 and enroll in a minimum of 6 units.

• If you plan to transfer to a four-year college or to another college in the fall semester 2010, you will be required to provide evidence of that transfer.

HOW WE EVALUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

• The Scholarship Committee is comprised of 30 individuals in faculty, staff, administrators and community volunteers. The committee, chaired by the Scholarship Coordinator reviews the applications process and establishes policies and procedures for the program.

• Scholarships are awarded on the basis of evaluation the criteria and the funds available. Unfortunately, no student is guaranteed a scholarship in the process, as we have more applicants than scholarships available.

RECEIVING YOUR AWARD

• At the end of April you will receive an E-Mail informing you if you have selected to receive a scholarship.

• If you are invited to the awards program, you are encouraged to attend the ceremony on May 21, 2010 and we advise you to save this date.

• After the Award Program, you will receive a letter explaining the steps in receiving your scholarship(s).

• Students must write a Thank-You Letter to your donor(s).

• New or continuing students at Saddleback College must enroll in fall semester, 2010 classes for checks to be ordered for disbursement at the beginning of the term. Transferring students must provide documentation acceptance to the Student Financial Assistance and Scholarship Office. Scholarship disbursements will be mailed to the Transfer institution.
