Curriculum Course Approval Process by Instructor

Curriculum Committee Approval Process for Online Education

Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, Section 55206, states that “if any portion of the instruction in a proposed or existing course or course section is designed to be provided through distance education in lieu of face-to-face interaction between instructor and student, the course shall be separately reviewed and approved according to the district’s adopted course approval procedures.”

Each course, whether hybrid or fully online, shall be approved by the Curriculum Committee and must include a description of how regular and substantive contact will be met.  Given the variety of ways in which regular and substantive contact can be met and online education courses can be designed, approval shall only pertain to the individual faculty member listed on the C2 form.
