Reorganization of Docket Meeting

Whereas, the South Orange County Community College District docket meeting lasts for one and one-half to two hours once a month, bringing shared governance representatives from the Academic Senates, Faculty Association, Classified Senates, CSEA, and the Police Officers Association together with college and district executive personnel; and

Whereas, removal of those shared governance representatives from the docket meeting would necessitate the proliferation of substitute meetings, greatly increasing the total number of hours administrators, faculty and staff spend on discussing the same issues, increasing the inefficiency of administration; and

Whereas, on repeated occasions, input from shared governance representatives has assisted the development of the Board of Trustees agenda by contributing information or correcting important detail on items such as equivalencies, minimum qualifications, supplemental assignments, hires, and curriculum; and

Whereas, removal of shared governance representatives' input at docket meetings would therefore increase the occurrence of errors in the final Board of Trustees agenda, making Trustee meetings more difficult;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Academic Senate of Saddleback College is strongly opposed to the removal of shared governance representatives from the docket meeting of the South Orange County Community College District.
