Curriculum and Class Schedule
How to Register: To enroll in any Honors Program course except SPSW 1, register by telephone or in person as you would for any other course. You should then contact the Honors Office (see the e-mail address and telephone number below). SPSW 1 is open by instructor interview only.
What The Courses Are Like: Honors courses are small, with a maximum class size of 25. Because of the size and population of the courses, instructors are able to be more flexible in instructional methods. Whether the environment is outside in the field, in a laboratory, or in a seminar, the emphasis is always on close interaction between Honors students and faculty.
What Courses We Have: The Honors Program is growing continuously, so any detailed list of courses would not be up-to-date. The present portfolio includes classes in anatomy, anthropology, business, art, astronomy, biology, computer science, economics, English literature, foods and nutrition, geology, history, marine science, peace studies, political science and psychology.
How The Program is Structured: Honors electives are spread across the curriculum, but the Program has a strong base in composition and humanities, which make up its core requirements (see the
Program Completion page). To complete the Program in good standing, a student must maintain at least a 3.25 G.P.A. overall and in Honors courses. At least five Honors courses (summing to at least 15 units) must be taken: three core courses and at least two electives.
