I think I always wanted to be a preschool teacher. I began taking classes toward that goal here at Saddleback College when my youngest son entered preschool and never looked back!  I’ve spent 35 years in the field, as a preschool teaching assistant, teacher and director, CA Early Childhood Mentor Teacher, NAEYC program accreditation validator, parent educator and college faculty at Saddleback and Irvine Valley colleges. Over the years I’ve given workshops on guidance and discipline, early childhood curriculum and indoor and outdoor environments.
Recently retired as the Preschool director at St. Margaret’s School in San Juan Capistrano, I’m looking forward to be teaching again at Saddleback College. This is an exciting time in our field with much research and attention being focused on young children’s play and learning. As Tom Hunter used to say, “We hold the children’s hearts in our hands”.  Our job as parents and teachers of young children is important work!
Spring 2017, I‘m teaching CD 111: Child Guidance and Communication on Thursday afternoons. Courses I have taught over the years are: Child Guidance and Discipline; Early Childhood Creative Activities – Art and Music; and The Mentor Teacher/Adult Supervision
