Admission Requirements for International Students

* For students currently attending language school, college or university in the U.S., and transferring to Saddleback College.


Required Admission Documents:

To apply for admission to Saddleback College as an international student, submit all of the following required documents by the deadline date. All documents must be submitted before your application for admission can be considered.

1.

Application for Admission: Apply on-line.

2.

Application fee: Nonrefundable application fee of 54.00 USD. Please send U.S. international money order or a cashier’s check payable in U.S. funds to Saddleback College.

3.

Personal Statement: One-page typed personal statement about your current educational goals and your goals after completing your studies at Saddleback College. Also, describe the reason you selected Saddleback College to pursue your higher education.

4.

Academic Transcripts: Original official transcript of academic records equivalent to graduation from an American high school. Transcript must be official; English translation must be official bearing the signature, stamp, and other information of translator.

5.

Affidavit of Support Form: Click here for the form.

6.

Bank Certification: Official Bank Certification of Sponsor’s available funds of minimum of 19,568.00 USD. Click here for the form.

7.

English Requirement: Students whose native language is not English must submit a current score (not more than 2 years old) of the TOEFL, IELTS, iTEP, or STEP EIKEN. If you have not taken one of the abovementioned tests, please make arrangements to take it at least 2 months before the application deadline.

  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 470 (paper based), 52 (internet-based). For more information about the TOEFL, please visit: www.toefl.org. Use code #4747 to submit official TOEFL score report to Saddleback College.
  • IELTS: Minimum score of Band 4.5. For more information about the IELTS, please visit: www.ielts.org.
  • iTEP: Minimum score of 4. For more information about the iTEP, please visit: www.itepexam.com.
  • STEP EIKEN: Must be passed at the grade 2 level or higher.

If you are transferring from an English Language School, Saddleback College will accept the following course completion as English proficiency:

AOI College of Languages – completion of Level 6.

GEOS English Academy, Costa Mesa – completion of Level 6.

Kaplan English Programs - completion of Advanced Level.

Poly Languages Institute - completion of Level 6.

The English test requirement may be waived for applicants who can demonstrate that they have successfully completed the equivalent to ENG 200 at Saddleback College. Courses must be from an accredited institution. Students who graduate from a U.S. high school are not required to take the TOEFL, IELTS, iTEP, or STEP EIKEN.

If you are under the age of 18, you will need to submit a notarized guardianship letter from a guardian in California. Click here for a sample of the guardianship letter.

Additional documents required for students transferring from another school in the U.S.A.:

Copy of I-20 issued from the last school attended.
11. Original official transcript from the last school attended in the U.S.
12. Copy of I-94 (front and back).
13. Copy of F-1 visa.

Acceptance to Saddleback College:

After completion of the listed requirements, the applicant will be considered for admission and will be notified of his/her admission decision via post.

Receiving Your Documents: If you would like to receive your I-20 and admission documents by express mail, please pre-pay for shipping at https://study.eshipglobal.com. Create an account and pre-pay online. Please enter your Saddleback College ID number in the “Student ID field” if you have received it, or enter 99999 if you do not have a Saddleback College ID number. We will print out the shipping label and mail your documents. We can also ship your documents by regular airmail at no charge to you.

Once you’ve obtained your visa, you must complete the following:

Arrive at Saddleback College at least three (3) weeks before classes begin.

Attend the mandatory International Student Orientation.

Take a tuberculosis skin test (TB) in the United States (available on campus in the Student Health Center).

Purchase the required health insurance: www.renstudent.com/saddleback.

Enroll in a minimum of 12 units each fall and spring semester at Saddleback College to maintain your F-1 status.

Enroll in APSY 1.
