    How do I migrate my old email over to exchange?

    A: Please contact the ITC for assistance.

    Q: MySite Links
    Will there be a link to the new Exchange web email interface in MySite?

    A: Yes! The link is already available online on our website.

    Q: Accessing from MySite
    Will we still be able to get our email through MySite after the change?

    A: Sure! The link to the new web based interface will be available through MySite just as before. The biggest difference is that you will be able to access it even without using MySite first. https://exchange.socccd.edu

    Q: Sending Email To My Class
    Will I be able to "send mail" to the class (as a group or individuals) through BB and MySite?

    A: Yes. The group email function of both MySite and Blackboard will continue to work as it did before the Exchange cut-over.

    Q: Online Teaching
    I teach only on-line and of course use Blackboard and MySite all the time. How will the new Outlook system interface with those?

    A: It will not have any effect. There will be no change to your interaction with Blackboard.

    Q: Receiving Email
    Will I continue to receive communication from students through MySite?

    A: Yes but you will need to use Exchange email. The link is available under "My Email" in the MySite menu.

    Q: Macintosh Computers
    Will the new email system work the same way for Macintosh computers?

    A: Macintosh computers on campus will use Entorage. You will need to schedule the ITC to configure your desktop computer.

    The web interface, Outlook Web Access (OWA), is availabel to Macintosh users both on and off campus.

    Q: Forwarding Email
    Will my Saddleback email continue to be forwarded to my personal email address?

    A: The forward from the old system will not automatically move to the new system.You wil need to set up the forward again. Instructions are available on this web page.

    Q: Accessing Old Messages
    Will old email messages stilll be accessible? Is there a 'time limit' for such?

    A: Yes - old emails will still exist on your college desktop computer and on the old MySite webmail. The mail on your desktop computer will never expire.

    Q: Forwarding Email
    On the new system will email sent to the college automatically be transfered to our home email address that has been in place?

    A: The forward from the old system will not automatically move to the new system.You wil need to set up the forward again. A link to setup instructions is available on the upper left side of this web page.

    Q: Roster Management
    Will I will still need MySite for roster management, etc.

    A: Yes. Nothing has changed regarding the "Faculty Services" in MySite.

    Q: Sending Email Messages to Students
    Will I be able to send messages to students through the various "send mail" options in the Communication section of Blackboard.

    A: Yes. The options you had for group email messages to your students through MySite and Blackbard will continue to function.

    Q: Receiving New Email Through MySite
    Will I be able to receive new messages through MySite after the switchover.

    A: Yes. When you go to "My Email" in MySite, click on the Exchange Email option.

    Q: Outlook Web Access
    Will I need to use Outlook Web Access to receive email from students and others after the cut-over date?

    A: Yes. New email will no longer be routed to your current Netscape account. All new email after April 25th will go to Exchange and be accessed through Outlook Web Access (OWA).

    Q: Forwarding Email with Outlook Web Access
    I'm an associate faculty member at the library and I currently have my campus emails forwarded to another email address. Will that information be retained after the switch to Outlook, or will I need to set up the forwarding from within Outlook Web Access?

    A: You will need to re-establish the forward on the new system. Instructions are available on this web page.

    Q: Forwarding Email - Rules Button
    Using your instructions, I've tried to set-up a forward for my email, but the "Rules" button does not exist.

    A: If you're using the "light" version of Outlook Web Access, Safari, Firefox, or trying to do this on a MacIntosh computer, the "Rules" button does not appear. You will need to use a Windows computer with Internet Explorer to access the "full" version. This only has to be done one time to set-up the forward.

    Q: What is my password?
    I'm an associate faculty member and don't usually log on to a computer on campus. What is my password?

    A: Try the last four digits of your social security number plus two zeros. If that doesn't work, call the ITC.
