The
Instructional Server (I-Server) on the Saddleback campus has recently
undergone some changes. The directory contains a folder for each
faculty member and instructional content pages can be directly added
to this folder. All full-time and part-time faculty have folders
on the I-Server. The
district generates "default" pages based on ticket numbers for each
course that faculty teach. These pages can be accessed from the
class schedule on the college web site and have a section called
"include" pages that are editable regions to create links
to your web pages or links you'd like your students to have for
class.
Instructions
for Uploading files to WebServer by FTP (this is to access from
both on and off campus)
If
you're working on files that you wish to upload to the webserver
from an off campus site, you will need to use an FTP program to
upload your files. If you do not have an FTP program, you can get
the package that the college uses, WS_FTP, through Ipswitch, Inc.
at http://www.ipswitch.com/.
They do offer a 30 day free trial download. For MAC, try the program
called Anarchie.
- Open
your FTP program.
- On
the General tab locate Host/Address Name and type "www.saddleback.edu"
(without the quotes)
- User
ID/Name is saddleback/ plus your user id name. e.g. saddleback/jsmith
- Then
click on the Startup tab. In the Intial Remote Host Directory
type "/faculty/firstintiallastname/". It should look
like this: /faculty/jdoe/
- Password
is the last four digits of your social security number and two
zeros.
The
arrows show the direction which you wish to transfer the files to.
If
you experience any problems while using FTP, call 582-4456.
