Student Equity and Special Programs
Kolin Williams served in the U.S. Army as a M1A1 Main Battle Tank Crewmember from 1995-1999. After an honorable discharge, he began his transition to the civilian world. He began using his GI Bill at the local Community College and, although he made many mistakes, he also learned how to be successful. In 2005, he graduated California State University, Sacramento with a B.A. in Humanities, and in 2008, he graduated with an M.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. In 2008 Kolin was as hired as a counselor by the Disabled Student Programs and Services office at American River College. During his time as a Counselor at ARC, he worked in Special Services, General Counseling, and CalWORKS. He was also the Advisor for the ARC Association of Student Veterans which he created in 2008. He has presented to the Academic Senate, Board of Governors, and facilitated Faculty training on issues specific to disabled veterans. As the Veterans/ Generalist Counselor at Saddleback College, Kolin teaches the APSY 140, Boots-to-Books class and advises the Saddleback Veterans Club. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three little girls, fishing, golf, rooting for the Oakland Raiders, and listing to Pearl Jam.
