ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) DEPARTMENT
Matt Hunt
Chair, English as a Second Language (ESL) Department
|
The ESL Department offers a broad spectrum of English as a Second Language courses for non-native speakers planning to enter the standard college curriculum as well as for those who want to improve their English fluency.
We offer classes from true beginners all the way up to College transferable. A unique curriculum allows you the flexibility of tailoring a program specifically for your needs. We offer integrated skills courses which work on all language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels.
Our ESL Department at Saddleback College offers special skills courses designed to help you in your academic life or in your career. These include conversation, pronunciation, grammar, reading and writing, listening and notetaking, American Literature, and Writing for Work. You can always find a class or classes to meet your needs. With careful scheduling, you can even build and intensive English program at any level by taking a combination of multiskills courses along with our mini or specific skills courses.
International and immigrant students at Saddleback College also have the opportunity to be published in the International Voice, an annual publication of student writing.
Our faculty consists of instructors who have acquired at least a M.A. in TESOL or a related field. Some have a Ph.D.; others are published authors, or frequent conference presentors. All have the desire to help you learn English and are skilled to do so. |
