The Writing Center both encourages and guides students to learn about writing concepts such as tone, perspective, context and exposition, to name a few; enhance their writing skills to communicate vivid and organized ideas through the application of the aforementioned writing concepts; and seek assistance for their writing projects to achieve optimal success.

The following course is available through the Writing Center:

ENG 301 - Beginning Writing Lab
A corequisite lab for ENG 300 - Beginning Writing. The lab is designed to complement the writing techniques taught in ENG 300, with four modules that include pre-writing, paragraph development, sentence-combining and grammatical applications. The lab requires students to attend and utilize the Writing Center for a total of 16 hours, and is a Credit/No-Credit (CR/NC) lab worth 0.5 units.

With so much to offer, a frequent question is how the Writing Center differs from Tutoring Services. While Tutoring Services is another indispensable resource that complements our students’ academic success, its specializations—with respect to the writing process—are found in revising a specific draft of a writing project, whereas the Writing Center (ENG 210) emphasizes and aids in all stages of the writing process, as well as monitoring the progression thereof for each writing project throughout the semester.
