Where can I get technical assistance in the library?

Technical assistance staff is available to assist with technical questions and issues. They are located in the Library in LRC 205 or can be reached by phone at:

Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
Friday 8:00 am - 2 pm

How do I login to the library computers?

Use your Blackboard username/password to log into the library computers.

How do I access the library from home?

You can search the library catalog from home without having to log in. Once you start searching the library databases, you will be prompted to login to the system using your Blackboard login username and password. If you would like to place a hold on a book or renew an item, find articles in our databases or save/email the reference information for articles, you will need to create and log into to your My Library account.

Which computers can I use to surf the web/write a paper/print a document?

You may use any of the library computers to surf the web, do research, write papers, or print documents. Please note that you should not save any information to the library computers. All information is erased after you logout.

Can I download things from the internet?

Please note that you should not save any information to the library computers. All information is erased after you logout, however, you may download your work to a flash or thumb drive (USB).

What kind of computers do you have in the library?

The library has 46 PCs loaded with Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint). There are additional computers in Tutoring Services LRC 207. Data is not stored on these computers. You must use a flash or thumb drive (USB) to save your work.

Acceptable Use Policy of the South Orange County Community College District. Use of computers is intended for academic and curricular pursuits, and personal enrichment. Abuse of District Policy may result in suspension of Internet access. SOCCCD Board Policy 4000.2

Can I view online journals, magazines and books from home?

Yes. To search the library databases, you will be prompted to login to the system using your Blackboard login username and password. If you would like to place a hold on a book or renew an item, find articles in our databases or save/email the reference information for articles, you will need to create and log into your My Library account.

How do I get wireless access in the library?

  • Students currently enrolled at Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College, as well as all SOCCCD staff and faculty may access the campus wireless network.
  • Wireless access for Students
    • Ensure that you are connecting to the student network (select “students”. The “students” wi-fi will show up as a secure network but can be accessed by our students).
    • Username= your entire Saddleback email address. Example=jsmith1@saddleback.edu
    • Password= the same password you use to log into Blackboard
  • Wireless access for Faculty/Staff
    • Ensure that you are connecting to the staff network
    • Username= Staff user ID
    • Password= the same password you use to login to your computer on campus
