Professor Reed was graduated from the University of Redlands.
(MA '68 MAT '72.)
In 1995 he was named "Outstanding Journalism Educator" by the
Californian Newspaper Publishers Association.
Reed was the faculty adviser to the student newspaper, the Lariat, 1984-2005. During this time the newspaper and the students won numerous awards for journalism excellence including two Associated Collegiete Press Asssoication "National Pacemaker Awards," The newspaper was also recognized as one of the two top community college newspapers in the state on two occassions by the CNPA.
He has been a speaker at many local, state and national journalism conferences.
Since 1995 he has taught mass media, new writing and feature writing courses as well as serving as the journalism program chair.
In 2006 professor Reed's Mass Media and Society: Study Guide/Workbook -was published by Kendall/Hunt. It is now in its third edition.
