VII.         On-Site Labs (Notes and Reminders)

• Smoking is not permitted on the roof of the Science-Math building while we are observing.

•Red-beam flashlights are required during the roof observation sessions.

•The workload for each lab should be divided up so that each student has an opportunity to participate in each function of the experiment or observation.

VIII.       Off-Site Labs (Notes and Reminders)

• As a courtesy to other people, smoking is not permitted near the telescopes.

• College policy does not allow students to bring guests on official college field trips.

• Students who drive themselves are responsible for paying any required parking and camping fees. Please observe all park regulations and note the maximum number of cars allowed at each campsite.

• Every attempt will be made to predict weather conditions at the site. However, these weather predictions are approximate at best. We may experience overcast skies on arrival. In that event, we will wait a reasonable time for the skies to clear. If they do not, the class will be dismissed. This “reasonable” time will depend on the potential for the current weather conditions to improve.

• The Ortega night and Anza-Borrego sessions are official College field trips. All College rules and policies that apply in the classroom also apply in the field. Consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages is against College policy.

• Food will not be provided on the field trips. Each student should bring food and drink as required. Clothing suitable for the weather conditions at the site must be considered.
