President's Greeting
Saddleback Football Alumni Play in
2006/2007 Bowl Games

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Thank you to everyone for a wonderful In-Service Week and beginning to the Spring 2007 semester.  Thank you especially to Tom Weisrock who, as always, did a fantastic job coordinating the week.

This semester promises to be a great one. Our enrollment is up -- we have an increase of four percent in headcount.  It was great to see so many of you at the President's Breakfasts, where we discussed the strategic planning process and how everyone has access to the minutes of Planning & Budget Council (PBC) meetings.  As was noted at the breakfasts, you can simply click on the link to the left to find these documents.

The long-awaited BGS move to the Village is a positive change toward theRenee necessary renovations of several buildings on campus to upgrade and modernize our facilities.  I believe that our students will enjoy the new buildings in the Village and that this area will serve us well as these necessary renovations are made to the upper campus.

I encourage everyone to attend the Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations this year, which will be held on Wednesday, January 17 and Thursday, January 18.  Our International Students Specialist, Norma Yanni, has done an outstanding job planning these events and I have no doubt that they'll be a success.

Happy new year and I wish you all a successful spring 2007 semester.

Sincerely,
Rich McCullough

Additionally, Patrick "PT" Gates, the dynamo Saddleback College Running Back of the 2006 season, was named a Student Athlete of the Month by the Community College League of California Commission on Athletics.

Congratulations to the Gaucho Football team for molding great players who excel at Saddleback College and beyond.Memorial

KSBR Radio Unveils New Format Online

Saddleback College's KSBR 88.5 FM is in the process of launching a new student-run Internet radio station, OCRockRadio.com, that will cater to young listeners between the ages of 16 and 22.  To identify the format that would most appeal to listeners in this age group, students in Terry Wedel's radio broadcasting classes surveyed large lecture freshmen classes here on campus to gauge their tastes in music.  The result:  A mostly alternative rock format with some classic rock mixed in that will also feature independent and local bands.  Keep an eye out for radio broadcasting students over the next couple of weeks who will be showcasing their new product in common spaces on campus, such as the Village and the Student Services Quad.
