Saddleback College’s Emeritus Institute Presents the 2013 Distinguished Guest Lecture Series

The Emeritus Institute of Saddleback College is pleased to announce its forthcoming 2013 Distinguished Guest Lecture Series, which will commence January 25th, 2013 and run through May 17th, 2013. The series features a roster of 14 speakers who come from the academic, governmental, and private sectors, and will be held at the Laguna Woods Village Clubhouse 3 Auditorium, located at 23822 Avenida Sevilla, Laguna Woods, CA  92637. The lectures are held on Fridays, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

The public is invited to register for the series, which is offered as a Saddleback College Emeritus Institute class. Registration began on November 15th for continuing students and will begin on December 3rd for new and returning students. All 14 lectures are offered free of charge, but attendees are required to register in order to attend.

The kick-off session will feature Emeritus Institute Director David Anderson who will host a discussion with a roster of guests who will discuss everything from the early emergence of Saddleback’s Emeritus Institute to its vision for the future. Guests include Dr. Tod Burnett, Saddleback College president; Donald Busche, vice president of instruction; and Diane Edwards, former Emeritus Institute department chair.

Janice Arrington, Orange County’s film commissioner will speak about the history and expanding future of filmmaking in Orange County, offering clips of films shot in the area. The series will also feature a lecture by James Swinden, president of The Irvine Museum, who will provide a detailed study of works from the museum’s permanent collection.
