Saddleback College invites all community members to its 13th annual foundation gala on Saturday, April 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the college’s gymnasium. The theme of this year’s gala is “Vegas Meets Hollywood” and will feature performances of Hollywood musicals by the Tony award nominated Jonelle Allen and artist John Huntington, both instructors at Saddleback College. The event will include a presentation to the Alumnus of the Year, Richard Crawford of the Washington Redskins, a silent auction, casino games, dancing, dinner, and no-host cocktails.
Because proceeds of the event will go toward student scholarships and college programs, the handiwork of Saddleback students will be on full display during the event. Appetizers and desserts will be prepared and served by students in the culinary arts program, fine arts musicians will accompany instructor Joey Sellers’ jazz band, and event décor will be created by students in the entertainment and theatre technology program. Additionally, several pieces of student art will be included in the silent auction and available for purchase.
Gala tickets are $125 each or $1,250 for a table of 10. Sponsorships for the event are available at two levels: Gold ($5,000) and Silver ($2,500). For sponsorship opportunities or to reserve your tickets, please visit the event’s website at saddleback.edu/foundation/gala, call (949) 582-4479, or email email@example.com.
Dr. Tod A. Burnett, president of Saddleback College, stated, “The foundation gala is a favorite event for our students, faculty, and staff and offers a wonderful opportunity to come out for a fun night while benefiting our talented students. More than 500,000 alumni have benefited from the college’s outstanding academic and career training programs, and our gala will help fund scholarships that enable students to achieve their higher education goals.”
Jim Leach, president of Saddleback College Foundation Board of Governors. “The Saddleback College Foundation Gala caps off the year for the Foundation. It brings the community together around the common goal of providing opportunities for students to avail themselves of all that Saddleback has to offer. I hope everyone in south Orange County will come out, see all of what Saddleback has to offer and become a part of this important program."
Saddleback College’s 2013 Alumnus of the Year, Richard Crawford, will also be honored at the gala. Crawford attended Saddleback College from 2008 to 2010 where he was a scholar football player and earned first-team all-mission conference honors as a sophomore. Crawford transferred to Southern Methodist University where he continued his college football career, starting 26 of 27 games, and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie season with 18 tackles, one interception, and one fumble recovery in 10 games. Crawford also averaged 19.5 yards-per-punt-return in eight attempts.
The Saddleback College gymnasium is located at 28000 Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to (949) 582-4479, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Business casual attire is recommended; no jeans, please.
