For most of his life, Michael Esfahani didn't care too much for school. That all changed for him at Saddleback. "I never really saw eye to eye with my teachers in elementary, middle, or high school, and unfortunately I came into college with that attitude. However, I never learned more, or felt as much passion about learning, as I did from the professors at Saddleback."
Michael enjoyed his classes and instructors, including Psychology Professor Kris Leppien-Christensen, Anthropology Professor Michael Merrifield, and Political Science Professor Lee Haggerty. Michael immediately started taking advantage of the free services offered to students, including the Learning Assistance Program to help him with his essays and personal statements, counseling and transfer assistance to define his education goals, and the Center for Career and Life Development where he got help writing his resume. Michael graduated Saddleback with an Associate of Arts degree in psychology, a 3.98 GPA, and an acceptance letter to UCLA.
As a Bruin, Michael is highly involved with campus organizations that focus on issues he is passionate about. He is the director of campus outreach for The Olive Tree Initiative, an apolitical, nonprofit, and diplomatic organization dedicated to educating students and the public about the many conflicts around the world, with a focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Moreover, Michael is a research assistant and recruitment leader at the Policing and Social Justice Lab on campus, and is involved with the Bruin Democrats and Pre-Law Society.
When he graduates from UCLA, Michael hopes to attend law school at New York University, UC Berkeley, or UCLA.
